Paul Hemple Sadly Passes

Some more very sad news from OCC. Former Club Captain Paul Hemple died recently at his home in Cornwall. Paul captained the 1st team for a number of years in the 70’s before he left to join Warlingham CC following a move to Surrey and then subsequently Limpsfield Chart.

Members might remember the midweek games against Limpsfield which Paul organised and some may have played with him when he captained the Orpington teams that featured in the Chris Hora memorial matches against Whitstable and Gravesend in 2012 and 2013.

Always highly competitive as a Captain, he made a huge contribution to the club and was a pioneer in bringing through Colts to the senior teams. He played in the inaugural fixture at the club when it moved here in the 70’s and was held in the very highest esteem by all who knew him.

OCC sends their condolences to Paul’s wife Sue, daughter Katherine, brother Mike and sister-in-law Rachel and wider friends and family. His funeral will be held in Cornwall on Friday 25th November. Please contact Kelly Freeman for details.
