Playing Attire

Coaching evenings

Shirts/trousers – please ensure that your children wear cricket attire. We do not mind ECB or county club gear, but please NO football, rugby shirts etc. Our preference is whites, but given the number of evenings some children play cricket, we appreciate it if this becomes difficult.

Boots – NO spiked shoes are permitted for coaching sessions in the nets, but please ensure your child’s footware has a good grip, preferably being cricket boots / trainers with “pimples”.

Protective equipment – Colts are required to wear a helmet with a faceguard or grill when batting against a hard ball, both in matches and practice sessions. In addition, pads, gloves, and an abdominal protector (box) are standard items of protective equipment. The club does have a few items of protective equipment that can be used during coaching evenings, but please ensure boys have their own box and appropriate cricket shorts / underwear that will hold it in place.  We will not allow any colt to face a hard ball if they are not protected appropriately.

Match Days

Shirts – each child must wear OCC Club shirts if they are representing the Club in a competitive fixture. This is a rule for ALL members i.e. senior, colt and lady members.   OCC club shirts and other OCC items be purchased through Island Sports (info@island-sports.co.uk ).  It is recommended that you give them a call on 01884 860289 to discuss the size of the item required.

Trousers – must be white!

Boots – must, as a minimum, be a “proper” cricket boot. Boots mentioned above for coaching sessions will be appropriate, but spiked boots will also be permitted [providing a grass and not artificial wicket is being used].

Caps – Club yellow or black caps are acceptable. No alternative headware [apart from protective helmets] should be worn whilst on the field of play.

Helmets – It is a stipulation of the North Kent Junior League that helmets MUST be worn when batting and keeping wicket.

Please note that for those colts selected to represent Orpington Cricket Club in matches against other clubs, there will be a £2 match fee for each game.

This will be collected by the respective Manager on the day of the match and is obligatory.
